Clearing Trauma: The Secret to Happiness

I am so excited to introduce a new audio series called: In Conversation with Desirae Jaenen. I definitely prefer sharing through conversation IRL, so I thought, why not capture what I dive into during client sessions in the form of an audio format to listen to when you're on the go, needing a gentle reminder that you're okay or just looking for some self-care inspo.

Today's topic – trauma. Whether you witnessed or experienced violence as a child or your caretakers were not able to meet your needs emotionally or physically, when you grow up in an unsafe or disconnected environment you are likely to still show signs of that trauma as an adult.  As children, we make meaning out of the events we witness and the things that happen to us, and thus create an internal map of how the world operates. This meaning-making helps us understand and cope. But if we don't create a new internal map as we grow up, our old way of interpreting the world can damage our ability to function as adults. In the first of my audio series, I will go over why I have come to understand how healing past trauma might just be the biggest secret to health, happiness and living a fulfilled life.

It is my intention to bring a new perspective of what trauma really is, how it can perpetuate for years after the fact, and most importantly how to change the story through awareness, expression, healing and new behaviours.
